ISLAND Delays Opening!

Due to Hurricane Sandy, the show that I'm choreographing, The Island of No Tomorrows, has to delay its opening. We were going to open this Friday, but will now open Thursday 11/8- which is also our benefit performance! We will hopefully get back into the theatre tomorrow to continue tech week. We are all super grateful to be safe and sheltered so a delayed opening is a small price to pay. Looking forward to seeing you at the show!

Dancing In Times Square!

Today, at 5am, 4 other dancers and myself filmed a Rockette style dance in the middle of Times Square, right in front of the Marriot!! I choreographed this piece for a new film. I cannot wait to see the finished product and share it with you! Here's a picture of me (right) and 2 of my amazing, beautiful dancers Chloe Hurst (left) and Alexis Sweeney (center- who is also my dance captain in The Island of No Tomorrows):

DARE TO BEHOLD THIS EROTIC QUIXOTIC MUSICAL FANTASIA!

THE ISLAND OF NO TOMORROWS by Fengar Gael is not your traditional musical. The infant Esperanza's mother dies in childbirth, and Esperanza is given an artificial heart but not expected to live. Her father, Don Hilardo, sequesters Esperanza at Villa Leche, his ideal of heaven on earth, filled with a bevy of voluptuous nursing mothers to care for her until the dreaded day arrives. But Esperanza defies the odds in this madcap exploration of sexual subjugation, political oppression, and the challenges of parenting in the electronic age.

MYSTERIES AT THE MUSEUM

I'm super excited to be playing Kate Shelley- an AMAZING  historical figure who saved 200 people's lives by crawling along crumbling train tracks over a raging river, in the middle of the night, during an epic storm- in the Travel Channels Mysteries at the Museum. Here's her amazing story:

Check back in a few months for the actual footage. Shooting this was SO much fun and I can't wait to see it.

More good GRIMM Feedback!

Here's a link to another great review!

http://thehappiestmedium.com/2012/08/grimm-a-new-musical-two-sisters-one-necklace-fringe-festival-2012/

Here's the short form/section involving myself:

"...she (Olivia Hartle) teams well with Burns and Cucci who both do a remarkable job embracing both the good as well as the evil with one hundred percent commitment - casting off the vestiges of their previous roles as thoroughly as they do their costumes.  They are both devoted and believable as the dark as well as the light sides of humanity, so when the switch happens it is as if you can see their souls jump from one to the other.  For this to happen in a small theatre is a remarkable feat."

Tomorrow is our last performance- hope to see you there!!!

After working on this piece for 3 years, from its original reading back in 2008, to its recording, and to the first production, I couldn't be happier or more excited!

Temple of the Souls was developed and directed by Lorca Peress of MultiStages, written by Anita Velez-Mitchell, with music by Anika Paris, Dean Landon, and Anita Velez Mitchell.

GRIMM's First Review!

Here's a link to our first review!

http://www.nytheatre.com/nytheatrenow/review/fringenyc2012-grimm-a-new-musical

The bit about me (and my "twin" Gina!):

"Our leading ladies, Theresa Burns and Gina Cucci, the true Catherine and the true Angelica —the billing is kind of difficult with all the body-swapping— do a good job of making their characters distinct and both have nice sets of pipes with which to relay the, at times, clumsy morals."
